    The Professional Development Lead translates business needs into tangible goals and scales individual goals to align with organizational core competencies.  You are a strategic driver - understanding our talent strategy, customer needs, evolving technologies, employee interests and our culture.  Your team is small and agile, and your work product impacts the entire organization.  You play an active role in preserving the culture that makes REI Systems a Washington Post Top Work Place!


    • Participates in initiatives related to talent development, employee engagement and capability enhancements; supports organizational transformation and change.
    • Acts as a career development consultant to REI Systems employees including increasing effectiveness in current roles, identifying potential career paths and preparing team members for future roles.
    • Identifies current and future IT and business training needs. Works at all levels to determine organizational, team, and individual training gaps in consultation with supervisors/leadership.
    • Identifies, designs, implements and facilitates developmental learning solutions in IT and business domains.
    • Designs, creates, reviews and adjusts training courses including content.
    • Assesses the impact of training programs.
    • Manages professional development requests. Monitors employee professional development plans for quality, completion and follow through.
    • Provided tactical and strategic professional development guidance for IT positions. Able to:
      • Help people develop a professional development plan that addresses current needs while complementing long term career goals
      • Recommend professional certifications
      • Evaluate if training requests are appropriate for a given IT position
    • Ensures compliance with standardized/mandatory training requirements.
    • Maintains training catalogs, calendar, records and certifications. Monitors Continuing Professional Education credits .
    • Develops and manages a training/professional development budget.
    • Sets goals and defines metrics to track performance against goals, analyzes performance data to identify trends and uses trends to adjust the strategy. Prepares periodic reports for People Service Team and Executives.

    • 5+ years of experience in professional development field, preferably in an IT organization.
    • 3 + years of experience creating or assisting others in creating training content using ADDIE, Merrill’s Principles or a comparable training content creation methodology.
    • Experience with providing training documentation required by ISO 9001 and CMMI.
    • Strong planning, organization and problem-solving skills.
    • Clear communication skills; proven written, interpersonal, presentation and facilitation skills.
    • A continuous improvement and customer centric attitude.
    • Strong collaboration and systems thinking skills to enable practical solutions aligned to strategy.
    • Ability to tell a story using a combination of qualitative and quantitative data.
    • Ability to handle multiple work streams at a fast pace.
    • Learning agility to acquire/apply new practices and information in a changing environment.
    • Experience with Agile (Scrum or Kanban).
