Responsibilities

Project Overview: At REI Systems, this project focuses on delivering strategic advisory services to senior U.S. federal and public sector clients, driving large-scale IT modernization and business transformation. The initiative includes managing complex consulting engagements, developing go-to-market strategies, and building client relationships. Key areas of focus are organizational development, strategic planning, and performance management, with an emphasis on aligning solutions with client missions and industry best practices.

 

Position Overview: The Principal role requires 20+ years of experience in management consulting and business development within the public sector. The candidate will lead federal consulting engagements, drive business development, and mentor teams while overseeing the development and execution of high-value proposals. Responsibilities include advising senior government leaders, developing market strategies, building delivery teams, and supporting REI's corporate initiatives. This role is pivotal in shaping REI's Advisory Services Practice and expanding client impact through innovative, mission-aligned solutions.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Advise senior-level government executives and cultivate business relationships across the federal landscape.
  • Lead client delivery and the execution of major programs/projects across a portfolio of U.S. federal and public sector consulting engagements.
  • Contribute to account lead generation, sales, revenue, and profitability goals.  
  • Develop Go-To-Market (GTM) strategies for assigned federal/local/state agencies and develop/maintain associated business pipelines.
  • Lead capture, teaming, and full-scale proposal development (technical, management, pricing volume) efforts for complex management consulting and technical bids (e.g., $50M+ annually).
  • Develop customer and teaming partner networks for functional/domain area(s) of responsibility.
  • Drive development and provide oversight of project work plans, budgets, and related artifacts, including analysis of alternatives, communications plans, subcontractor management plans, and risk management plans.
  • Interact with both business and technical client stakeholders and communicate complex concepts to non-technical audiences, providing digestible analysis and solid recommendations.  
  • Lead solutioning efforts that are aligned with our clients' mission and strategic objectives, informed by industry best practices, and that account for various organizational, financial, and technical factors.
  • Develop capability (frameworks, playbooks, methodologies, past performance), nurture and mature team competencies, and  provide subject matter expertise across one or more of the following capabilities: Strategic Planning, Organizational
  • Development, Organization Change Management (OCM), Strategic Communications, Business Process Reengineering, Training, or Performance Management.
  • Partner with technology leaders across REI Systems and build teaming relationships to best support the success of large-scale IT modernization and business transformation efforts for clients.
  • Mentor, coach, and support the professional development of Advisory Services team members and direct reports.
  • Play an integral role in recruiting, interviewing, retaining, and growing talent at REI Systems.
  • Prepare and contribute to goal setting and business reviews of the Advisory Service Practice regarding progress, roadblocks, and any corrective actions.
  • Serve as a representative and brand ambassador for REI Systems and Advisory Services Practice to external partners and at networking and industry events.  
  • Engage actively in multimedia marketing efforts, including development of external facing thought leadership (e.g., whitepapers, playbooks, blog posts) and other sales collateral.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 20+ years of experience in management consulting in roles of increased responsibility with 10+ years of experience supporting the U.S. federal government.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, qualify, and lead capture efforts for new business opportunities resulting in $5M+ annually.  
  • Experience advising stakeholders at all levels of an agency/organization, including senior-level executives, project managers, and technical staff/practitioners.
  • Demonstrated experience leading the design and implementation of strategy for complex business transformation initiatives.
  • Must be a self-starter capable of multitasking in a deadline-driven and cross-functional team setting.  
  • Demonstrated strong network of trusted client and industry relationships.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Experience managing scope, schedule, budget, and quality across multiple programs, projects, and client engagements.
  • Experience managing federal contracts and familiarity with the federal acquisition lifecycle.
  • Proficiency in one or more of the following capabilities: Strategic Planning, Organization Change Management (OCM), Strategic Communications, Business Process Reengineering, and Learning and Performance Management.
  • Experience mentoring and supporting the professional development of team members and building high-performing teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • "Big 10" consulting experience
  • Proven track record in selling professional services to government clients.
  • Strong IT-Business acumen and experience advising customers on IT strategic planning and technology modernization initiatives.
  • Certification in one or more capability areas of interest (Lean Six Sigma certification from ASQ or similar; PMP certification from PMI or similar; Organizational Change Management certification from ACMP or similar; or Coaching certification from ICF or similar).  

Education: Bachelor’s degree in relevant field. Master's degree preferred.

 

Clearance:  Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

 

Location: Remote with periodic travel to the DC Metro area and customer sites
